Books 4 Life is a second-hand bookshop run by volunteers. The money we raise by selling second-hand books is donated to charities. Two charities, chosen by the founders of Books 4 Life as permanent beneficiaries, receive 50% of the revenue: Amnesty International and Oxfam Novib. These charities have been chosen due to their active contribution to the worldwide promotion of human rights and development aid. Once a year a festive event is organized to officially present the donations to the two organizations, each receiving 25% of the funds raised by Books 4 Life. Of the other 50%, at least 40% is donated to several smaller charities that are selected each year. A maximum of 10% of the revenue is used to cover administrative cost.
All books on sale in our store are donated by individuals and companies in or near Groningen. These books are categorized, priced and placed in our shop by volunteers, who each work a couple of hours a week in our store.
Range of books
We accept and sell all kinds of books, from novels to cookbooks and travel guides to study material. Any book you are willing to part with, as long as they are clean and (preferably) undamaged can be brought to our shop. Also, when you are shopping for books, please pay us a visit, as you may very well find your choice in the Books 4 Life shop. It will save you money and, more importantly, the money you do spend goes to charity!

Books 4 Life is a partner of JoHo. You can find us in the JoHo Center at the ‘Oude Kijk in ‘t Jatstraat’ 30 in Groningen.
